A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate improvements to the Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at the airport located at 500 Ammons Road.
Improvements include renovation and expansion of the terminal building, parking and landscape improvements, and the construction of two T hangars.
The City is very appreciative of the support of its partners that include Spartanburg County, the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission and Carolina First Community Development Corporation.
Community leaders making remarks at the groundbreaking include Mayor Junie White; Honorable Michael Brown, District 1 County Councilmember; Honorable Joe Spigner, District 1 City Councilmember; City Manager Ed Memmott, and Airport Director Darwin Simpson.
